Australian rare diseases Network

image descriptionPatient organisations in Australia have engaged in Rare Disease Day since 2009, hosting many exciting events to raise awareness amongst the general public, including a Fun Run and Walk, BBQ fundraisers and forums to improve understanding of rare diseases. The Australian cricketer Steve Waugh publically demonstrated his support for the day.

2014 saw some great new events including a cinema night fundraiser, a morning tea, and a fun day out at Luna Park for 28 invited grant recipient families, giving them the chance to connect and share stories and be recognised and treated as the rare stars they are.
